Acne

Acne is a common skin disease characterized by whiteheads, blackheads pimples and nodules.

Treatment:  Sciton light therapy, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, facials or prescription skincare products.

Actinic Keratosis

Actinic Keratosis is a dry or scaly patch, found in a sun exposed area that never seems to go away and may bleed.

Treatment: Sciton light therapy.

Blackheads

Blackheads are also called open comedones. The sebaceous material in an open pore darkens because of oxidation which causes the pore to look black.

Treatment: Sciton light therapy, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or facials.

Cherry Angioma

Cherry angioma is a cluster of cherry red to purple dialated veins.  This is a very common benign vascular lesion which some people refer to as blood blisters.

Dry skin

Dry skin is a skin condition where the skin loses moisture, may crack and peel, become irritated, inflamed and itch.

Treatment: Chemical peels, microdermabrasion, facials and topical skincare.

Expression lines

Expression lines are wrinkles or depressions in the skin that develop from muscles repetitively moving in the same direction.

Freckles

Freckles are a cluster of concentrated melanin (dark pigment) which is most often visible on people of fair skin, but they may also be found on anyone no matter what their genetic background.

Hursutism

Hursutism is excessive hair growth where hair does not usually grow.

Hypertrophic sebaceous glands

Hypertrophic sebaceous glands are overgrown or enlarged oil glands which look shiny and yellow on the skin.

Hyperpigmentation

Hyperpigmentation is a darkening of an area of the skin caused by sun damage.

Keratosis Pilaris

Keratosis pilaris is a common, harmless condition that manifest itself by a patch of rough, red, inflamed bumps on the skin. Keratosis pilaris can be found on the arms, legs, head or cheeks.

Treatment: Microdermbrasion and moisturizer.

Melasma

Melasma is a dark, discolored, irregular patch on the face. This dark patch develops over time and is caused by sun exposure and hormones. It is common in pregnant women, women taking oral contraceptives or women taking hormone replacement therapy.

Treatment: Complete skin lightening system, light chemical peels, light microdermbrasion and skin lightening cream in addition to sunscreen.

Milia

Milia are small white or yellow papules (bumps or elevated skin) which are usually found around the eyes or the nose.

Nasolabial Folds

Nasolabial folds are lines that form in the skin from the corners of the nose to the corners of the mouth.

Nodules

A nodule is a small hard bump.

Oily Skin

Oily skin is caused by overactive oil glands. The skin appears shiny, thick, coarse and prone to blackheads.

Papule

A papule is a type of raised lesion that is usually characterized by red bumps.

Pimples

A pimple is a kind of acne that is the result of excess oil which clogs the pores.

Poikiloderma

Poikiloderma is a thin, scaly skin disorder that causes the affected area to appear inflamed, scaly and thin. It may be speckled red and brown, yellowish brown, gray or grayish black.

Psuedofolliculitis Barbe

Psuedofolliculitis barbe is persistant irritation caused by shaving.

Treatment: Laser hair removal.

Pustule

A pustule is an infected bump that has a white or yellow center of fluid which is a mixture of dead white blood cells, bacteria, blood and other debris. Pustules also contain tissue or cells that have been destroyed by infection.

Treatment: Scition light therapy, chemical peels.

Rosacea

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition characterized by facial redness. Pimples may also be present.

Treatment: Sciton light therapy, topical and oral antibiotics.

Rhinophyma

Rhinophyma is caused by rosacea. It is characterized as chronic, diffuse redness on the nose with many telangiectasias and skin flushing.  In more severe cases, cysts and acne like sores can develop.

Rytides

Rytides is the medical term for wrinkles.

Sebaceous Hyperplasia

Sebaceous hyperplasia is a disorder where the oil glands become enlarged and produce yellow, shiny bumps on the face.

Treatment: Vascutouch, chemical peels.

Scars

  • Acne scars: Acne scars are the result of inflammation brought on by acne.
  • Ice pick scars: Ice pick scars are deep pits. These are the most common acne scar.
  • Box car scars : Box car scars are angular scars that usually occur on the temples and cheeks and can be either superficial or deep. These are similar to chickenpox scars.
  • “Rolling scars”:  Rolling scars are the scars that give the skin a wave-like appearance.
  • Hypertrophic scars:  Hypertrophic scars are scars that take the form of a red, raised lump on the skin. Thickened or keloid scars.

Skin Tags

Skin tags are small extensions of the skin that look like small tags or flaps hanging off the skin.

Spider veins

Spider veins are ruptured veins near the surface of the skin that commonly appear on the face, thighs, calves and ankles.

Stretchmarks

Stretchmarks are tears in the skin. They look like thin, narrow, grooves or thin lines close together.

Solar lentigo

Solar lentigo are brown colored blemishes on the skin associated with aging and over exposure to UVA (aging ultra violet sun rays).

Solar elastosis

Solar elastosis is severe sagging of the skin resulting from sun-damaged skin.

A sunburn is a burn to living skin tissue which is produced by overexposure to (UV) ultraviolet radiation; usually from sun rays.

Telangeictasia

Telangeictasia are small dilated blood vessels near the skin surface.

Whiteheads

Whiteheads are closed comedones or small pimples with a whitish top formed when a sebaceous gland becomes blocked.
